When you hand off hardware to a contract manufacturer (CM), they need more than instructions. They need guaranteed processes.

Hardware provisioning is repetitive, error-prone work. Load firmware, configure network settings, provision credentials, verify functionality. Multiply that by 50 units, 100 units, or thousands of units on a production line.

When building the Shield product, we faced a problem familiar to hardware teams everywhere: engineers split across two locations needed to collaborate on the same hardware.
